Privacy
VillagesSuisses.ch is a volunteer project. We collect as little data as possible. This page explains which data, why, and how to object, in line with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, for visitors from the European Union, the GDPR.

Hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (United States). On each visit the server records technical data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser) to keep the site running and secure. We use this data for no other purpose.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
To cover the site's costs, we show at most two ads per page, served by Google AdSense. For visitors from Switzerland and the European Economic Area, the provider is Google Ireland Limited.
Google may use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, measure their performance and fight fraud. Personalised ads are only shown with your consent, requested by a consent message on your first visit. If you decline, non-personalised ads may still appear.
You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. More on how Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
"Contribute" form
When you suggest a correction, the information you enter (text, source, attached file and, if you provide them, your name and email address) is sent through Netlify Forms. We only use it to check the suggestion and, if needed, to reply. It is neither published nor passed on to third parties.
Statistics (Google Analytics) and other tools
To see which pages are read and improve the site, we use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. It sets cookies (such as "_ga") and records information about your visit: pages viewed, time spent, device and browser type, referring page and approximate region. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses. We only see aggregate statistics and cannot identify individual visitors.
These cookies are only set if you click "Accept" in the banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, Google Analytics sets no cookies and only receives anonymous signals without any identifier. You can change your mind at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, or install Google's opt-out add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. More information: policies.google.com/privacy.
The share buttons are plain links: nothing is sent to WhatsApp, Facebook or any other service until you click. The donation link leads to PayPal, which applies its own privacy policy.
To show the number of visitors at the bottom of the home page, the site uses GoatCounter, a cookie-free statistics service. Your browser only keeps the time of your last visit, so each person is counted once per visit. GoatCounter does not store your IP address or any information that identifies you.
Transfers abroad
Netlify and Google may process data in the United States. These companies commit to recognised safeguards for such transfers (Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and withdraw your consent to advertising cookies at any time. In case of dispute, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
