Anchettes
Origin of the name Anchettes
A d'Anchettes family has lived here since at least the early 14th century. Where the name comes from is still unclear.[2]
Founding of Anchettes
Anchettes is a hamlet of the former municipality of Venthône, now in the municipality of Noble-Contrée. It grew up around a château standing apart from the village, on the right bank of the Monderèche. In the 13th century the château belonged to the episcopal chapter of Sierre. The d'Anchettes, settled there in the early 14th century, probably began the house that later became the residence of the de Platea and then of the de Preux. The « château » is in fact a group of buildings put up or altered between the 15th and 19th centuries, with farm outbuildings, a chapel and a few partly old houses.[1][2][3]
