Origin of the name Corserey

The village appears between 1157 and 1162 in the form « Corserei ». The meaning of the name has not been established.[1]

Founding of Corserey

Corserey enters history through a gift to the abbey of Hauterive in the 12th century. The village then formed a small lordship held by vassal families of the House of Savoy: the Montagny, de Prez, Balmis, d'Avenches, Champion, Pavilliard, Roberti and de Billens. It belonged to the parish of Prez until 1900 and lived from milk and cereals. Its coat of arms, derived from that of the lords of Belp-Montagny, was granted around 1525. Corserey is today in the municipality of Prez (merger of 2020).[1][2]
