Eschiens

The name is recorded in 1245 as « Eschiens », then in 1274 as « Echichens ». Its origin is unknown.[1]
Founding of Eschiens
Eschiens is a street village on the left bank of the Broye, between the Parimbot stream and the river, built along an old medieval route linking Oron with Moudon. In the Middle Ages the hamlet shared the fate of Ecublens within the lordship of Rue, and the abbeys of Hautcrêt and Saint-Maurice owned property here. Always part of the parish of Promasens, its people lived from farming, mainly tobacco and grain. United with Ecublens in 1969, Eschiens is now part of the municipality of Rue (merger of 2025).[1][2]
