Origin of the name Neuhaus

The village appears in 1363 as «Nüwenhus». The name may point to a community of land clearers.[1]

Founding of Neuhaus

Neuhaus has formed a village community since 1423 at least. The Thierstein family held rights here in the 14th century, and the village later belonged to the Burg banner of the Old Territories of Fribourg. It worked its land in common with Egg. For church matters it belonged first to Marly, then to Giffers and finally to Plasselb. Neuhaus is now a village of the municipality of Plasselb (merger of 1971).[1]
