Origin of the name Péry-La Heutte

The municipality's name sets side by side those of the two municipalities it unites, Péry and La Heutte.[1]

Founding of Péry-La Heutte

Péry-La Heutte unites Péry and La Heutte, in the Suze valley and the Rondchâtel gorge, about 7 km north of Biel. The municipality covers nearly 24 km² and reaches up to the summit of the Montoz. The two villages first belonged to a wider plan called Rondchâtel, with Orvin, Plagne, Vauffelin and Romont. After it failed, Péry, which did not want a large merger, offered La Heutte a two-way union in the autumn of 2011.[1][2][5]
