Rueyres
Origin of the name Rueyres
The village is mentioned in 1177 as «Rueria». The name is said to derive from the Latin «roboretum» or the Late Latin «ruboria», «place planted with oaks», «oak grove» (to be cross-checked). The oak leaves on the municipal coat of arms recall this etymology.
