Origin of the name Treytorrens (Puidoux)

Name origin: not explained by the sources consulted for this locality. Not to be confused with the municipality of Treytorrens in the Broye, nor with the noble de Treytorrens family, whose ancestral seat is that Broye village.

Founding of Treytorrens (Puidoux)

Treytorrens is not a municipality: it is a hamlet of the municipality of Puidoux, in the district of Lavaux-Oron. No founding act is known. The lower part of the municipality of Puidoux comprises the village of Puidoux, the hamlets of Publoz and Cremières and the vineyards of Treytorrens and the Dézaley. The hamlet, on the lakeshore at the foot of the Dézaley, is one of the eleven sites in Lavaux rated of national interest and is listed in the Federal Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites (ISOS) (to be cross-checked). It is home to the production site of the Testuz wine house, taken over in 2015 by the Schenk group.

History of Treytorrens (Puidoux)

2007. Lavaux, which includes the vineyard and hamlet of Treytorrens, is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

2008. On 1 January, Puidoux, and with it Treytorrens, joins the new district of Lavaux-Oron (law on territorial division in force since 1 September 2006).

2015. After the reckless management and financial troubles of its former directors, which nearly led to the site's complete closure, the Testuz house and its Treytorrens site are bought by the Schenk group.

2021. From 1 October, the Treytorrens production site on the lakeshore regains more activity and again receives the grape harvests of the region's winegrowers.

Treytorrens vineyard. Together with the Dézaley vineyard, it forms the vineyard of the lower part of the municipality of Puidoux, in the heart of Lavaux.

Testuz house site. Cellar and production site on the lakeshore, owned by the Schenk group since 2015 and revived in 2021.
