Origin of the name Vallamand

The name "Vallamand" is attested from an early period in Vaud sources relating to the Vully; the village has historically consisted of two hamlets, Vallamand-Dessus and Vallamand-Dessous.

Founding of Vallamand

Vallamand developed as a wine-growing village of the Vaud Vully, on the shores of Lake Morat, in keeping with the seigneurial history of the region, which was divided among several noble families.

History of Vallamand

1550. The village had about 14 households according to the old sources.

early 18th century. Construction of Vallamand-Dessous Castle by Emanuel von Graffenried (the precise construction date differs between sources: early 18th century or 1725 according to the Dictionnaire historique de la Suisse, to be cross-checked).

2011. Merger of Vallamand with Bellerive, Chabrey, Constantine, Montmagny, Mur (VD) and Villars-le-Grand to form the municipality of Vully-les-Lacs, on 1 July 2011.
