Founding of Vison

Vison is a village of the former municipality of Charrat, which comprised Vison, Les Chênes and the station district and merged with Martigny in 2021. The village lies at the foot of La Crête, the hill that overlooks it and shelters it from the winds sweeping the Rhône plain. It has kept the look of an old Valais village, bordered by a vineyard ringed with forest. Who founded it is unknown. It enters history in 1052, with an estate whose rights the bishop of Sion cedes to the chapter.[1][4][5]
