Origin of the name Bollion

The meaning of the name Bollion remains obscure.

Founding of Bollion

Bollion belongs to the lordship of Cheyres, and its land lies within the « grande commune » that unites the villages of Font, Châbles and Châtillon. The first inhabitants were small farmers who tilled a few ares and kept cattle and poultry. Houses and paths are built of shelly sandstone from small local quarries. The village belongs to the parish of Lully, although the priest of Font kept certain rights over it. Bollion is now part of the municipality of Lully (merger of 2006).[1][2]
