Chésopelloz
Origin of the name Chésopelloz
Written « Chissapenlo » in 1229, the name of Chésopelloz keeps an obscure meaning.[1]
Founding of Chésopelloz
Chésopelloz brought together three hamlets that had always belonged to the parish of Belfaux. At the start of the 14th century the village and its land belonged to Nicolas d'Estavayer, who exchanged them with the abbey of Hauterive. The Holy Spirit confraternity of Fribourg also held rights and property here. The municipality kept its rural character, with livestock, fodder and cereal farming. Chésopelloz is now a village of the municipality of Corminboeuf (merger of 1 January 2017).[1][2]
