Founding of Corban
Corban is first recorded in 1184; neither the founder of the village nor the circumstances of its creation are known. The area was frequented as early as Roman times, as shown by a hoard of denarii from the 1st and 2nd centuries discovered in 1892. Located in the eastern part of the Scheulte valley, or Val Terbi, Corban was until 1797 one of the mayoralties of the provostry of Moutier-Grandval, attached to the great mayoralty of Courrendlin, known as Sous-les-Roches, which remained Catholic. It is now part of the municipality of Val Terbi (merger of 1 January 2018).
