Fuyens

Fuyens appears in the 12th century as « Fuiens », a name of unknown meaning.[1]
Founding of Fuyens
Fuyens lies on the right bank of the Glâne, opposite Villaz-Saint-Pierre. The convents of Hauterive and the Fille-Dieu held rights and land here. Under the Ancien Régime the place formed a small lordship in the hands of the de Boccard family of Fribourg. Its inhabitants always belonged to the parish of Villaz-Saint-Pierre. Fuyens is now part of the municipality of Villaz (merger of 2020), after being joined to Villaz-Saint-Pierre in 1978.[1][2]
