Grolley-Ponthaux
Origin of the name Grolley-Ponthaux
The name simply joins those of the two municipalities it unites, Grolley and Ponthaux. Before it was adopted, it was examined by the cantonal nomenclature commission and by swisstopo. Article 2 of the decree states that the new municipality is called Grolley-Ponthaux and belongs to the district of Sarine.[1][2]
Founding of Grolley-Ponthaux
Grolley and Ponthaux form Grolley-Ponthaux, with 2'881 inhabitants on 31 December 2022 over 11.25 km². Each had already absorbed a neighbour: Nierlet-les-Bois had joined Ponthaux in 1981 and Corsalettes had joined Grolley in 2000. The canton grants 527'400 francs in aid, to be paid in 2026. The municipality has a general council of 42 members.[1][2][3][5]
