Henniez
Origin of the name Henniez
The name is attested in 1380 as «Ennyt», then «Ignie» (1668) and «Ingniez» (1781). It is said to come from a Roman named Ennius who owned an estate there (to be cross-checked).
Founding of Henniez
Located on the right bank of the Broye, not far from Avenches and Granges-près-Marnand, the place was already known in the Roman period. None of the sources consulted states who founded the village. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the episcopal castellany of Lucens and to the parish of Granges-près-Marnand.

1803. Attached to the district of Payerne.
around 1880. The baths are reorganised.
1905. The first mineral water bottling plant is founded, followed by others until 1930.
1930s. The baths are closed.
1938-1940. A chapel is built.
1978. Only one company exploiting the springs remains, a major economic hub of the Broye.
2008. Henniez moves to the new district of Broye-Vully.

Mineral water springs. Their waters have been analysed since 1766; bottled since 1905, they support a company that is an economic hub of the Broye.
