Plateau de Diesse
Origin of the name Plateau de Diesse
The municipality takes its name from the plateau it occupies, the Montagne de Diesse, also called Plateau de Diesse. The working group announced it in March 2013 as «Le Plateau de Diesse», and the merger agreement kept «Plateau de Diesse».[5][7][10]
Founding of Plateau de Diesse
Plateau de Diesse brought together on 1 January 2014 the mixed communes of Diesse and Lamboing and the municipal commune of Prêles, as one mixed commune. The plan first included La Neuveville, which withdrew in 2009, then Nods, whose refusal made it fail in 2012. The three other villages took it up again, and their voters accepted the merger agreement on 9 June 2013 with 63.6 % yes. It was the second merger in the Bernese Jura in over half a century, after that of Sauge.[1][2][3][6][9]
