Founding of Bionnens

Bionnens is a small village in the southern Glâne, which has always belonged to the parish of Ursy-Morlens. Until the 16th century the lordship belonged to a family bearing the name of the place, invested by the counts of Savoy. It then passed to the Gonel, then to the Techtermann, who kept it until the buy-out of feudal rights in 1838. The village remains rural: livestock, fodder crops and cereals. Bionnens is now part of the municipality of Ursy (merger of 2001).[1][2]
