Bodme
Origin of the name Bodme
Bodme, also spelt Bodmen, appears in a deed of 1347. The name remains unexplained.[1][3][5]
Founding of Bodme
Bodme is a hamlet in the municipality of Goms (former municipality of Blitzingen), on the left bank of the Rotten, the Rhône. It is the only settlement on that bank in the upper Goms valley (Obergoms). An independent municipality until 1848, it was then joined to Blitzingen. The houses in the centre date from the late 16th century and the following years up to about 1630. Those on the edge were built from the second half of the 18th century to about 1830.[1][2][5]
