Essert
Origin of the name Essert
The hamlet has borne three names in turn: Sartarie, Ried, then Essert. When and why it changed them is not known.[3]
Founding of Essert
Essert is a small village of 2.45 km², linked to Le Mouret by a steep path. It belongs to the parish of Treyvaux, now called Treyvaux-Essert. The abbey of Hauterive collected the tithe here in the 13th century. Around the farms, the school and the chapel, new houses have enlarged the village. Essert is now a village of the municipality of Le Mouret (merger of 1 January 2003).[1][2][3]
