Origin of the name Fétigny-Ménières

The name joins those of the two former municipalities, Fétigny, recorded in 1142 as « Festignei », and Ménières, recorded in 1228 in the phrase « hospitale de Meinires ». It was submitted to the cantonal Nomenclature Commission and to swisstopo. The coat of arms combines, on a red field, two gold chevrons, a black ringed cross edged with gold, a gold boar and a gold spur rowel.[1][3][7][8]
