Founding of Vers-chez-Perrin

Vers-chez-Perrin is not a municipality: it is one of the four hamlets of the municipality of Payerne, in its southern part, in the Broye-Vully district. No source consulted says when, why or by whom it was founded. Together with Etrabloz, Corge, Vers-chez-Savary and two outlying farms, formerly called « Villages d'en-haut », it has formed a municipal section since 1854. Its inhabitants obtained rights of use in the forests of the Payerne monastery from the 16th century.

History of Vers-chez-Perrin

1519. The Abbey of Payerne grants the inhabitants rights of use in the monastery's forests.

1538. The Bernese confirm these forest rights of use.

1691. First mention of a school.

1744. The school operates regularly.

18th-19th centuries. A flax and hemp spinning mill operates at La Foule.

1854. Vers-chez-Perrin, Etrabloz, Corge, Vers-chez-Savary and two outlying farms form a section of the municipality of Payerne.

1862. A Régie is set up to manage the part of the forests ceded to the hamlets by the State of Vaud, heir to Their Excellencies of Bern; only resident citizens may enjoy it.

1919. The rights of the municipal section are fixed.
