Founding of Le Cerneux-Veusil

Le Cerneux-Veusil is a hamlet of the municipality of Muriaux, in the Franches-Montagnes district. It forms an enclave between Saint-Imier (Bern) and Les Breuleux and consists of two groups of farms, the Dessus and the Dessous. Nobody knows when or by whom it was founded. Under the Ancien Régime it appears among the hamlets of the community of Muriaux, in the lordship of the Franches-Montagnes. Being far from the village of Muriaux, it was attached for worship to the parish of Les Breuleux, and until the early 20th century its school also took in children living on the territory of Saint-Imier.[1][2]
