Morgins
Origin of the name Morgins
The name Morgins, also borne by the nearby pass and lake, has no established etymology.[7]
Founding of Morgins
Morgins is one of the villages of the municipality of Troistorrents, at the foot of the Pas de Morgins. In the 19th century this pass serves as a crossing between Lower Valais and the Val d'Abondance, and water cures and spa resorts are then in high demand. An iron-rich spring, the Eau Rouge, makes the place known and starts its tourist development. Winter tourism takes over in the 20th century.[1][3]
