Praratoud
Origin of the name Praratoud
The place appears in 1668 in the form « Praratos ». It was also called la Grange de Praratoud.[1]
Founding of Praratoud
Praratoud belonged to the lordship of Surpierre, which became a Fribourg bailiwick in 1536, and the village has always been part of the parish of Surpierre. It only became a municipality in 1815, when it broke away from Surpierre and adopted its own statutes. Its inhabitants live from fodder and cereal crops and from livestock. Praratoud is now part of the municipality of Surpierre (merger of 2005).[1][3]
