Founding of Mollie-Margot

Mollie-Margot is not a municipality but a hamlet of the municipality of Savigny, in the district of Lavaux-Oron. No source consulted dates its formation or names its founders. Savigny, located where Lavaux meets the Jorat, includes the hamlets of Mollie-Margot, La Goille, Le Martinet and La Claie-aux-Moines and is marked by scattered settlement. For the whole of this territory, land clearing began in the 13th century, first by settlers from Haute-Savoie and the Lombard valleys, later from the Bernese Oberland; these facts concern the whole municipality and not Mollie-Margot in particular.
