Origin of the name Chiboz

The name Chiboz has no known explanation. The federal maps write « Chibo » and distinguish Chibo d'en Bas and Chibo d'en Haut.

Founding of Chiboz

Chiboz is a mayen of the municipality of Fully, at about 1'350 m, set against the flank of the Grand Chavalard. When it was first settled is not known. Its inhabitants grew cereals which they ground at the local mill, fed by a bisse. The mayen is inhabited all year round, but its steep access roads are hard to clear of snow, and avalanches make access difficult in winter. Chiboz also has a chapel.[1][2][3][4][5]
